Identifying three core narratological concepts that address issues of form and “voice,” as well as structure, and then exploring ways that coding and quantitative analysis can not only coexist with but actually serve the application of those concepts, the approach demonstrated here attempts to reconcile all three practices: the experiential, the theoretical, and the positivist. As the examination of narrative structures with regard to gender constructions has shown, a narratological approach can also be used for context-oriented analyses.
